“Parents Building Solutions, Parenting Teenagers” – Parent Forum
Each year Keysborough College works with Parentzone (Anglicare) to run a specifically designed program for Parents within our school community.
The program offers support to parents and guardians and gives them the opportunity to address issues that may be affecting home and school life for the young person in their care.
The program was offered to all parents and guardians of students attending KSC at both campuses and there was a dedicated group that came along each week. There were 5 session dates starting on the 26th October and ran through till the 23rd November 2017.
The program topics that the attendees were able to get valuable information from were:
- How to get my teenager to listen
- Are you tired of yelling?
- Understanding teens behaviour and
- How to cope with stress, emotions and self-care
After coming along to all the sessions, each participant was awarded a certificate of completion by the program facilitator, Mr Jasbir Suropada and Mr Patrick Boyd our Banksia Campus Principal. Mr Boyd is pictured above with, Harlin Gandhok, Jasbir Suropada, Natalie Barber and the Parent Forum attendees and their completion certificates, 23rd November 2017.
The College would like to acknowledge Harlin Gandhok (Youth Officer), for all her hard work in providing a space to run the Parent Forum and organising refreshments at the Banksia Campus.
The Parent Forum will be run again in 2017. If you would like more information or would like to be contacted as to when the next program will run, please contact Natalie Barber (Youth Worker, Acacia Campus): 9798 1877 or Harlin Gandhok (Youth Officer, Banksia Campus): 9545 4144.
